Florida time with the fam
I arrived in Florida two days ago. I'm staying here for a week with my family in a house with two other families. One family are family friends, but the other family is our family friends, family friends :P The first family has three boys, 9, 10, and 13. The other family has two babies, a boy and a girl. There is also three extra adults here, family friends father and brother, and other families friend. I am the only girl other than the 6 month old baby. There are the three boys in the one family, the toddler, and my 9 year-old brother. Luckily there is one person here close to my age, the 13 year-old boy. I am also 13, but we have not seen eachother since we were 6 or 7 and I'm sure you know how awkward it is for a teenage boy and teenage girl to talk when they barely know eachother. So I've been bored out of my mind. It will be nice once I can lay out in the sun, but two days ago we spent almost the whole day travelling so we didn't arrive at the house until 5 o'clock. And yesterday it was pouring rain so laying out in the sun was kind of impossible. I went to my first NHL game yesterday though. I have been to hockey games before, but just minor league games as we have a really good team in Halifax. But last night we went to a Tampa Bay Lighting (as we are staying in Tampa) and Vancouver Canucks game. It was so exciting. We were one of the few Vancouver fans, all of the almost 20 of us that went from the house, but it was still fun. Lighting beat the Canucks 3-4 so it was a very exciting game. When the announcer was saying who scored one of the Canucks goals someone yelled out "Wgo cares?", I laughed. It's really funny being on the opposing side. Usually we are at the game where our team is the home team. The arena was amazing. Much nicer than the metro centre. It was all glass on one side and there was a huge pipe organ. And there was also these two really cool lighting machines that would go off whenever Tampa scored or they were coming on the ice. It made purple lighting, it was kind of terrifying actually, it could have shocked someone! But there were these chains on either side so the lighting would hit the chains instead of people :/ But I would still be scared it would go past the chains into the crowd. Oh well, it was such I fun night. I just wish it wasn't raining all day. The drive to the arena was actually kind of terrifying. It was pouring rain so you could hardly see, the arena was over an hour away so we had a lond drive, and on the highways in Florida! There were huge trucks all over the highway going way too fast so they would spray you with water and you would be completely blind. We missed an exit too! Luckily there was a turn around point right after the exit so we turned around and were able to take the exit. We were following the car of someone staying a the house with us who had lived in Florida before, so he knew where we were going. But it was the car and then three vans of people, our van was the only one with a GPS and we were right behind the car, but it was so hard to stay with everyone in the rain on the highway, so I kept thinking people wouldn't take an exit or something and they would be completely lost without a GPS. But we all made there and back ok, I think some of us were permanently scarred from that terrifying drive, but those are minor details. But back to the boy my age. His name is Will, he's 13, and really cute. I think I like him, but I don't know if he likes me... I haven't been to pretty the last couple days anyways. The weather in Florida is horrible for my curly hair. It's so humid that it makes my hair super frizzy and hard to tame. It's also so salty... Everywhere.... That my hair is never soft and it's really hard to do anything with because it just stays in one place.
